Tyrconnell is the name given to Kilbeggan Distilling Company's unpeated single malt whiskey. This is the standard bottling which is aged for nearly 8 years but will typically have some older whiskey included in the vatting. The name Tyrconnell comes from a racehorse that famously won at odd of 100-1 and this brand was originally made at Watts distillery in Derry before disappearing for many decades. The Cooley Distillery (now Kilbeggan Distilling Company) resurected the brand and it has since gone on to become very popular as an inexpensive single malt. This is a vibrant and fresh tasting single malt with the exuberance of youthful apple and pear fruit combined with some creamy vanilla and gently spicy oak...
Uisce Beatha is the Irish phrase for 'water of life', from which whiskey got its name. It's the brainchild of celebrity hairstylist and Patron Tequila founder Jon Paul DeJoria! Uisce Beatha was matured for four years plus in ex bourbon barrels and is clean and malty...

Made with a high rye content in the mashbill, this has a great mix of crispness, power and intense fruitiness all combined with some heady spiced oak (they use a heavy char on the barrels for this one). ..
A wheated bourbon that harks back to the great whiskeys of the olden days. Powerful and heady with aromatic oak nuances, jammy fruit and lots of exotic spices. ..
This started off being distilled at the old Tullamore Distillery in County Offaly before being aged for an incredible 44 years. The barrel it came from had been purchased by Willie Napier who owned the Central Bar in Lisburn. It lay forgotten about for many years before being bottled in 1989. We now have the very last few bottles of it. It display the dusty old pot still character of typical whiskeys of this vintage, along with some nice vanilla and spice...

Writers Tears is a very interesting whiskey. The cask strength version is made in batches, this one 1,200 bottles strong. Bernard Walsh, of the Walsh Distillery in Carlow, hand picks casks of bourbon matured malt (60%) and pot still (40%) and vats them together. It's classified as a blend, but doesn't contain any grain whiskey. There is a 40% version to that's well worth trying, but this incarnation was bottled at 53%. The sources of the whiskeys in the vatting are Midleton and Bushmills, and it's easy to work out which came from where.....
